Here’s a list of exotic foods from the Philippines. Bizarre it may seem but these long list of foods are eaten in the Philippines and I am sure from anywhere else in the world. Want to try some?

Cat Adobo
Do you know that even cats are eaten by people in the Philippines? They cook it in adobo style, sautéed with garlic, onion and laurel leaf seasoned with soy sauce and vinegar. This is a favorite appetizer during their drinking spree.
Fried Rat
Rats from the rice paddies are also eaten. They would skin them, cut the head, the tail, and the legs then all internal organs are removed. Actually these rodents are clean because they only feed on rice. Cooking is done the adobo way deep fried. It can also be roasted like chicken.
Raw Young Mudfish
These are eaten raw spiced up with vinegar or citrus juice, pepper, and salt.
Frog Adobo
Frogs can be cooked in adobo style or deep fried. It’s tastier than chicken. There are also some people in the Philippines that eat legs of bullfrogs cooked in the same manner.
Snake Adobo
This is cooked in adobo style. Snake is commonly eaten in Asia because of its medicinal value. It’s also a good aphrodisiac.

I am Filipino and in my 42 years living in the Philippines, I haven’t heard that cats are being eaten as adobo. This is incredulous and a total misinterpretation of our people. If there are people who supposedly eat cats, this may not even be 1 percent. I wonder who these people are and how destitute they can be to resort to this inhumane act of eating cats (or dogs). Geez, we already past the 1st decade of the new millenium. How barbaric and so unglam!!!
We have cats at home, a siamese, russian blue and a Philippine domestic cat (which we rescued from the street) and we provide them with good loving home where they get their own cat playroom section in our house (entire house is air conditioned by the way including laundry room), pampered with toys and the vitamins are even flown in from the United States (bought online).
it is a real shame for fellow Filipinos to post things like “Filipinos eating cats”. Maybe a very small population would do such a horrible act. Maybe the person who post this is one of them. Yet, this is TOTAL FALLACY OF INCOMPLETE INDUCTION that will further tarnish the already tarnished image of Filipinos globally. How will we gain respect if we post articles that ‘WE EAT CATS” when in fact it is not true at all (maybe a small few).
Please be responsible in the articles that you post as every article posted over the internet can be at the fingertips’ disposal by anyone in the world. If other nationaltiies read this, do you ever think about the repercussions it will bring to the rest of our nation? That we are CAT MURDERERS? NOT TRUE!! Now I wonder, what the foreigner across me will think of me being Filipino as I enjoy my Dom Perignon or Veuve Clicquot as I sip it in my first class seat in the plane??? Even if I wrap my head in my Bvlgari scarf and wear my Chanel shades when I travel overseas won’t be enough to cover the collateral damage done by this article to Filipinos like me.
By the way, please tell your cat eating friends or whoever you know who eat cats to please spare them. There are other sources of protein available or be vegetarian. Being vegetarian is “IN” now you know.

Tsk..tsk…tsk…I am so sorry for you..most probably you belong to the upper bracket of the Philippine society which is composed of a very small percentage on the country’s population..and shame on you as well for being ignorant on what’s going on at the largest percentage (80%)of the Philippine society – the masses..the masses don’t know about Russian blue, Siamese, Persian etc..what is popular to them is the pusakal(pusang kalye)-in case you don’t know and the musang in far flung areas…the article is about exotic foods and I would suggest- get a dictionary and find the meaning of the word “exotic”. Never did i mention that cats are part of Philippine dishes. I said some Filipinos eat cat…So you are an animal-friendly or should I say friendly-animal??? just asking, and perhaps you don’t eat chicken, pork and fish as well..i have an aquarium, small mammals for pet, a dog and a cat, don’t you worry i never promoted that cats and dogs should be eaten although eating cats and dogs have been in existence in the Philippines like in many other countries for hundreds of years..the laws about animal welfare and many other Philippine laws are toothless and futile..they exist only for publicity and for recognition for politicians and few individuals..if you are true to your advocacy-then get all those thousands of pusakals and askals from all over the archipelago in your custody and rear and care for them..
